All schools which register for Bike to School Week 2019 AND complete the school reporting survey by Friday June 14, 2019, will receive a Certificate of Participation by mail before the end of the school year. More prizes and incentives are available to schools according to municipality or school board. Check out the list below!

 

Schools outside the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area

The first 50 schools which register outside of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area will receive 500 stickers, thanks to the Ontario Active School Travel program.

All schools which register for Bike to School Week AND report on events by June 14, 2019 will be entered in a random draw for one $200 gift card from MEC, Grand Prize Partner of Bike Month! This gift card can be used for online purchases or at any MEC location.

London, St. Thomas, Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin schools will be entered into a random draw for one of two $100 MEC gift cards, supported by the ELMO Active and Safe Routes to School Partnership.

 

Durham Region

All schools which register for Bike to School Week AND report on events by June 14, 2019 will be entered in a random draw for one $200 gift card from MEC, Grand Prize Partner of Bike Month! This gift card can be used for online purchases or at any MEC location.

 

Halton Region

All schools which register for Bike to School Week AND report on events by June 14, 2019 will be entered in a random draw for two exciting prizes:

  • One $200 gift card from MEC, Grand Prize Partner of Bike Month! This gift card can be used for online purchases or at any MEC location.
  • Two free school trips for up to 56 students to the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (Milton Velodrome) for a Try the Track session provided by National Cycling Institute Milton. This activity is open to students in grade 6 and up. One trip will be raffled off to Milton schools, the other to schools in Halton Region overall.
 

Hamilton

All schools which register for Bike to School Week AND report on events by June 14, 2019 will be entered in a random draw for two exciting prizes:

  • One $200 gift card from MEC, Grand Prize Partner of Bike Month! This gift card can be used for online purchases or at any MEC location.
  • One free school trip for up to 56 students to the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (Milton Velodrome) for a Try the Track session provided by National Cycling Institute Milton. This activity is open to students in grade 6 and up.
 

Region of Peel

Peel Prize Pack 2019
The first 180 schools which register for Bike to School Week by May 3, 2019, will be guaranteed a Walk + Roll Peel prize pack. This will include a bike helmet, a bike pump, 2 bike locks, 2 water bottles, 20 pairs of bike lights, 3 bike bells, 25 bike chain bracelets, 35 bike pins, bike stickers, and resources to promote active transportation at your school!

Elementary schools will receive a copy of The Yellow Bicycle by Igor Colares to add to their school library, and secondary schools will receive a print copy of The 10 Step Handbook for High School Bike Projects as a school resource.

  • Three free school trips for up to 56 students to the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (Milton Velodrome) for a Try the Track session provided by National Cycling Institute Milton. This activity is open to students in grade 6 and up. There will be three draws: one each in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.

In 2018, 165 schools in Peel Region registered for Bike to School Week. This year, we are aiming for 180 schools! Register your school early and tweet using #biketoschool to celebrate your school's participation!

 

City of Toronto

All Toronto schools which register for Bike to School Week by May 3, 2019 will be entered into a raffle to receive up to 24 free bicycle helmets for students. 2 secondary schools and 8 elementary/middle schools will be selected to win by random draw. (The draw is designed to ensure that at least one school from each of the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board is among the winners.) The helmets are donated through the City of Toronto's Vision Zero Road Safety Plan. Wearing a bicycle helmet can help protect active students who choose to bike or scooter to school.

All schools which register AND report on events by June 14, 2019 will be entered in a random draw for a one $200 gift card from MEC, Grand Prize Partner of Bike Month! This gift card can be used for online purchases or at any MEC location.

 

York Region

All schools that register by May 10, 2019 will receive a York Region prize pack delivered to the schools, which includes 1 bike repair kit, 20 valve lights, 10 reflective bands, 10 bicycle bells, 20 front lights and stickers! Schools that register after May 10 will be notified where to pick up their prize pack.

All schools which register AND report on events by June 14, 2019 will be entered in a random draw for one $200 gift card from MEC, Grand Prize Partner of Bike Month! This gift card can be used for online purchases or at any MEC location.

Schools will also be eligible to win York Region awards to three schools, including a plaque and a prize for the school. Awards will recognize:

  • Best School Spirit
  • Highest Student Participation
  • Highest Parent and Staff Participation

New this year -Calling all teachers who have received training in the York Region Making Tracks program! You are invited to enter a draw to win a Making Tracks Active Transportation Activity Kit for your school. To enter, just post a photo of yourself participating in a Bike to School Week activity on Twitter or Instagram, tag @YorkRegionGovt and use #YRMakingTracks #biketoschool #BikeYorkRegion

Pledge to ride to school or work on Bike to Work Day, Monday May 27 and/or throughout June for a chance to win one of three trips for two courtesy of VIA Rail (to Quebec City, Montreal or Ottawa) or a weekend getaway courtesy of Welcome Cyclists. Contest closes June 18.
