Tour de Thorncliffe kick-off & first lap
Join the Tour de Thorncliffe and help support free summer camps for local children with special needs. Organized by the Thorncliffe Park Autism Support Network and the Women's Cycling Network, this month long fundraiser aims to raise $20,000 to provide an inclusive summer camp experience for children with special needs in the Flemingdon Park, Thorncliffe Park and Taylor-Massey-Oakridge communities.
The Tour de Thorncliffe features for five community events and group rides from the kick-off on June 15 to the Grand Celebration on July 13. All events are free so come out and enjoy the fun! Every $5 raised or donated earns a raffle ticket and a chance to win a fantastic array of donated prizes, including bikes, helmets and annual BikeShare memberships.
The camps are hugely successful and welcome both children with and without neurodevelopmental disorders, a practise that builds awareness, understanding and acceptance. TPASN's Dr. Shakhlo Sharipova notes: "There were free camps in the city but none were open for children with special needs." The community and local businesses are invited to help raise $20,000 to fund the camps and every dollar donated makes a difference. Please, donate generously.
